Recorded Works
Jupiter
Brian Casey
This was a project recorded for an advanced recording class at SUNY New Paltz. We worked through the entire process from finding a band to mixing. The song includes a grand piano, saxophone, bass, drums, and vocals. We recorded on an Avid C24 mixer. We worked in a very reverberant room that had no acoustic paneling. We tried our best to create a small isolation booth for recording of the Saxophone and Vocals. I think it definitely made a difference that can be hard throughout all of my recordings which have all been recorded in the same space. This process was a bit different than how we had previously worked. The drummer had to leave early and wouldn't be there for the full session so we focused on recording two full takes of the song with all of the instruments and two separate takes of the drums. Once the drummer left, we recorded the piano, saxophone, and vocals individually. I used Protools to mix the song.

Soup Outside
This song is where I saw my biggest growth from what I had learned from the basics to actually putting a full product together and it actually sounding cohesive. This track was recorded on an Avid C24. The song includes drums, guitar, bass, piano, and vocals. I enjoyed being able to work with so many different tracks. The song was mixed on Protools.
Basic Recording Final
The goal for this recording was to create a cohesive piece that was smooth and worked on reverb and delay to make it sound similar to the recording room. After recording on the Avid C24 I took this piece and edited it with Protools and used the Midas M32R to mix automations in real time. Using the midas allowed me to make adjustments to multiple tracks at once and saved me a lot of time.

Antígona Radio Speech
At the beginning of the play Antígona and Ixiim are listening to the radio announce and introduce us to the political and environmental tensions of the play. This is meant to be coming from an old fashioned radio. An SM58, Scarlett, and Logic Pro were used to create the speech.

Antígona Profeta Speech
In the Play, Profeta predicts the outcome of future events. This is a big moment during the show affects Ixiim's decisions for the rest of the show. I wanted it to appear as thought the profet voice was coming through so as the actor is speaking this recording plays over enhancing the speech. On the last sentence I added a vocal reverb using QLab that shook the theater and left us experiencing the daunting feeling that Ixiim felt throughout the paly.
